1. About the website

Developing Southern Thornlands is an independent information website about development, property, infrastructure, services and related activity in and around the Southern Thornlands Priority Development Area.

The website is not an official Queensland Government, Economic Development Queensland, Redland City Council or developer website. References to those organisations do not imply affiliation, authorisation or endorsement.

2. Information, not professional advice

Website content is provided for general information and convenience. It is not legal, financial, property, valuation, town-planning, engineering, environmental, tax or investment advice and should not be relied upon as a substitute for advice suited to your circumstances.

Before making a purchase, sale, development, investment or other material decision, verify relevant information with the original authority or document and obtain appropriate independent professional advice.

3. Accuracy and currency

We aim to provide useful and accurate information, but development plans, approvals, ownership, infrastructure timing, addresses, property boundaries, service-provider details and government requirements can change.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, we do not guarantee that information is complete, accurate, current or suitable for a particular purpose. Publication dates, source links, verification indicators and uncertainty notes should be considered when assessing content.

We may correct, update, reorganise or remove content at any time without notice.

4. Property, planning and map information

Maps, parcel references, addresses, overlays and boundaries may be simplified, approximate, based on third-party data or affected by later cadastral and planning changes. They are not survey plans and must not be used to establish legal boundaries, ownership, development rights or the exact effect of an acquisition, easement, designation or planning control.

Official titles, survey plans, development instruments, approvals and advice from the relevant authority or qualified professional take priority over website content.

5. Third-party sources and links

The website may summarise or link to government documents, planning records, maps, service-provider websites, social media pages and other third-party material. Third parties control their own content, availability, security and privacy practices.

A link or reference is provided for convenience and does not mean we endorse every statement, service or practice of the third party. You use third-party websites and services under their own terms and at your own risk.

6. Service listings, sponsorships and advertising

The website may earn revenue from advertising, sponsorships, promoted placements and service-provider listings. Paid or sponsored content will be identified where reasonably practical.

Payment for a listing or placement does not make us the provider's agent and is not a guarantee or endorsement of the provider, its claims, availability, licensing, suitability, price or work. Visitors are responsible for making their own enquiries and choosing providers appropriate to their needs.

Service providers and advertisers are responsible for the accuracy and legality of claims and material they supply. Separate advertising or listing terms may apply to commercial customers and will prevail for that commercial arrangement if they are inconsistent with these public website terms.

7. Acceptable use

You must not use the website to:

  • break a law or infringe another person's rights;
  • introduce malware, malicious code or harmful automated requests;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website, server or database;
  • interfere with website availability, security or other visitors;
  • misrepresent your identity or relationship with another person or organisation;
  • systematically extract or republish substantial website content without permission; or
  • use website information to send spam or engage in unlawful marketing.

Ordinary indexing by legitimate search engines and reasonable personal use of public information are not prohibited. We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect the website, its data or other users.

8. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise stated, the website's original text, compilation, design, branding, graphics and code are owned by or licensed to the website operator. Third-party documents, maps, logos, trade marks and data remain the property of their respective owners and may be subject to separate licence terms.

You may view, print or save reasonable extracts for personal, non-commercial use. You must not reproduce, sell, republish or create a competing compilation from a substantial part of the website without permission or another legal right to do so.

9. Messages, corrections and submitted material

If you send a correction, suggestion, document, image or other material, you confirm that you have the right to provide it. You retain ownership of your material but give us permission to use, adapt and publish it as reasonably necessary to assess the submission, improve the website or correct information.

We will not intentionally publish your private contact details as part of a correction or contribution without permission. Do not send confidential or sensitive material through a general contact form.

10. Website availability and security

We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the website. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or that the website will always be free from errors, malicious code or other harmful components. You should use appropriate security, backup and verification practices when accessing online material.

11. Liability and Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies a guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, including any applicable rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss arising from reliance on website content, a delay or omission, website unavailability, third-party content, use of a listed provider, or a decision made without appropriate independent verification and advice. This includes indirect or consequential loss where exclusion is permitted.

12. Privacy

Our handling of personal information is explained in the Privacy Policy.

13. Changes, governing law and contact

We may update these terms as the website develops. The current version and its last-updated date will be published on this page. Continued use after an update means the revised terms apply from the time of that use.

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Courts with jurisdiction in Queensland may determine disputes relating to these terms, subject to any legal right to bring a matter elsewhere.

Questions about these terms can be sent through our Contact page.
