Parks & Open Space
A network of neighbourhood, recreation and sports parks is planned across the Southern Thornlands PDA as development occurs. The current plan identifies 13 coded parks, including 11 neighbourhood recreation parks and two larger district-level parks.
Two major parks currently have mapped planning areas. The locations of the 11 planned neighbourhood parks have not been defined clearly enough for us to map them without guessing.

Where the major parks are planned
The broader green-space corridor is shown for context. Only DR01 and DS01 are highlighted as mapped park areas.
What the map shows. Multipurpose Green Space is a broader planning allocation. DR01 is a park planned within part of that green-space corridor, while DS01 is the separately mapped District Sports Park. The 11 neighbourhood parks are not given reliable individual mapped boundaries, so no guessed locations are shown.
Major planned parks
The two parks we can map
The current planning material gives us defensible mapped areas for DR01 and DS01. DR01 has a planned functional area of 140,800 m² (14.1 ha), while DS01 has a planned functional area of 166,000 m² (16.6 ha). Their delivery years remain indicative.
District Recreation Park DR01
Its mapped functional park area sits within the broader Multipurpose Green Space corridor. The separate 22,500 m² acquisition allowance is not mapped because the source does not locate an acquisition boundary.
District Sports Park DS01
This is the planned District Sports Park and is mapped as its own district-level park designation.
Neighbourhood parks
11 neighbourhood recreation parks are planned
Each coded neighbourhood park has a scheduled area of 10,000 m² (1.0 ha), with indicative delivery extending from 2027 to 2046. The current source does not provide reliable individual boundaries for these parks, so they are listed here without guessed map locations.
Park types
What kinds of parks are planned?
The Development Scheme sets different size and accessibility expectations for neighbourhood recreation, district recreation and district sports parks.
Neighbourhood Recreation Park
Minimum size: 10,000 m²
Planning provision: about one per 2,500 people
Accessibility target: 90% of dwellings within 500 m.
District Recreation Park
Minimum size: 50,000 m²
Planning provision: about one per 10,000–15,000 people
Accessibility target: 90% of dwellings within 2.5 km.
District Sports Park
Minimum size: 75,000 m²
Planning provision: about one per 10,000–20,000 people
Accessibility target: 90% of dwellings within 4.0 km.
Linear open space: the planning framework also recognises Local Linear Parks, but no additional uncoded park locations have been invented for this page.

When are the parks planned?
The current Schedule of Works spreads park delivery across several stages of PDA growth. These are planning dates, not confirmed construction schedules.
