Roads & Transport
The Southern Thornlands PDA is planned to be supported by its existing road network, new road connections and a broader walking and cycling network. The future-road lines show the broad connections planners expect as the area develops; they are not final surveyed road alignments.

Drag to move around the map, use the controls or mouse wheel to zoom, and pinch with two fingers on a touch screen. Turn on Planned road design to see where documented road sections are intended to use different lane configurations.
The map combines existing major roads with the current indicative future-road network, established significant intersections and the separate off-road walking and cycling network.
What the map shows. Future-road lines are planning concepts showing the connections sought as development occurs. They do not establish a surveyed road reserve, a final junction location, a confirmed acquisition area or a construction timetable.
Future road network
The lines show intended connections, not final roads
The proposed future road network is best read as a connectivity plan. It shows the broad links planners want future development to provide between neighbourhoods and the surrounding road system.
The precise alignment of a future road can move as development proposals are prepared. The eventual location of junctions, road reserves and local street layouts will be resolved through later planning, design and development approvals.
That means a future-road line on this map should not be read as a promise that government will construct that exact road in that exact position.
Road design intentions
The Development Scheme includes drawings and design profiles showing how different road types are intended to work. The simplified diagrams below make those profiles easier to compare; they are not engineering drawings. Use Planned road design on the map above to see the road sections where a verified design profile is currently mapped.

Intersections & upgrades
Only established junctions and supported upgrade projects are shown
The map uses existing significant intersections for orientation. We do not create a separate “planned intersection” simply because two indicative future-road lines appear to meet on a planning map.

Off-road paths complement walking and cycling provision within streets
The proposed road designs generally make provision for walking and cycling as part of the street itself, including footpaths and, on some road types, separated cycle paths. Those facilities are explained in the Road design intentions above rather than colouring almost every road as a cycle route.
The orange map layer therefore highlights only the separate off-road active-transport paths identified by the current plan. Their alignments remain indicative and may be refined through later design and development.
How roads may be delivered
Future connections are expected to evolve with development
Indicative future roads are not all separate government construction projects. Many of the connections shown in the plan are expected to be resolved and delivered as surrounding land is developed, with exact alignments and junctions refined through development and infrastructure planning.
For property owners: a planning line crossing or near a property does not by itself confirm acquisition, a final road boundary or when works will occur.
