Economic Development Queensland released the proposed Southern Thornlands PDA Development Scheme for public notification on 3 August 2026. Written submissions are open until 15 September 2026.

The proposed scheme is the long-term planning framework for land use, development assessment and infrastructure delivery across the PDA. It plans for around 8,000 homes for up to 24,000 people, approximately 100 hectares of employment land, more than 150 hectares of open space, 11 neighbourhood recreation parks, two primary schools, one secondary school and an integrated road, walking and cycling network.

The document remains a proposal during public notification. Submissions must be considered before the Minister decides whether to approve the scheme, with or without changes. Until a final Development Scheme takes effect, the Interim Land Use Plan remains the operative PDA planning instrument.
