The Southern Thornlands Priority Development Area was declared on 4 April 2025. At the same time, the Southern Thornlands PDA Interim Land Use Plan came into effect as the interim planning framework for development within the PDA.
The PDA covers approximately 890 hectares and is intended to support future housing, infrastructure and economic growth in Redland City. Economic Development Queensland is responsible for planning and development assessment within the PDA.
The Interim Land Use Plan will regulate development until the Southern Thornlands PDA Development Scheme is finalised.
