The Minister for Economic Development Queensland approved DEV2025/1656 on 31 October 2025. The decision granted the PDA preliminary approval applied for, subject to the stated PDA development conditions.
The approved plan establishes the broad land-use distribution, indicative infrastructure and key structural elements for Southern Thornlands Precinct 1. The approved controls anticipate a mixed-use community of up to 800 dwellings with a village heart, residential areas and protected open-space corridors.
This is a planning approval, not evidence that the precinct is under construction. It does not grant detailed development permits for subdivision, operational works or buildings. Those later stages require further applications, approvals and infrastructure delivery.
