Consultation closes on proposed Taylor Road and Redland Bay Road intersection upgrade

TMR sought community feedback in 2024 on a preferred signalised upgrade for the Taylor Road and Redland Bay Road intersection. Consultation closed on 24 June 2024. Planning is now complete, but the preferred upgrade is not currently funded for detailed design or construction.

Roads & Transport

The Department of Transport and Main Roads sought community feedback in 2024 on a proposed upgrade of the Taylor Road and Redland Bay Road intersection, at the junction of Taylor Road, Boundary Road, Duncan Road and Redland Bay Road.

The preferred concept proposed a signalised intersection and included changes to traffic lanes and medians, cycle lanes, off-road shared paths and bus stop improvements.

Consultation closed on 24 June 2024. TMR later reported that 61% of participants supported signalisation of the Taylor Road and Redland Bay Road intersection.

Planning for the broader Redland Bay Road corridor study has since been completed. However, the preferred intersection upgrade is not currently funded for delivery. TMR states that further funding would be required before the project could progress to detailed design and construction.

The intersection is relevant to the Southern Thornlands Priority Development Area because Taylor Road runs south from the junction into the PDA. The proposed upgrade should not, however, be treated as committed construction or as having a confirmed delivery date until further funding and approvals are announced.
